Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Woodley began his film pursuits at the age of seven studying the techniques of animation at the Art Gallery of Ontario where he made a number of animated short films under the guidance of Academy Award winning animator, Eugene Fedorenko. After graduating from York University's film production department, Woodley worked in the industry as a writer, stop-motion animator and editor - receiving two Gemini nominations (the Canadian Emmy). As one of the founding members of Paulus Film Group, he directed three award winning short films - "The Wager" in 1998, "Bed & Breakfast" in 2000 and "Downpour" also in 2000. "Rhinoceros Eyes", Woodley's first feature film, debut ed at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival where it won the Discovery Award . The film stars Michael Pitt ("Boardwalk Empire", "The Dreamers"). His second feature, "Tennessee", starring Mariah Carey, was produced by Lee Daniels ("Precious", "Monsters Ball") and is soon to be followed by Woodley's third feature, "The Entitled" starring Kevin Zegers ("Transamerica") and Ray Liotta ("Goodfellas").
